December Haiku Diary

Author: jak (add to friends)

The final month of 2007 also has a few gaps, I'm afraid.

[More:]

Sun 2nd Dec

More house viewers come
after day of spit and polish.
Now sit back and wait.

Mon 3rd Dec

Tired again tonight,
fell asleep after our meal,
woke feeling so cold.

Tues 4th Dec

Researching Chinese
Lantern Festival keeps me
happily busy.

Thur 6th Dec

I'm turning into
a winter couch potato.
Each year it happens.

Fri 7th Dec

Sun shines this pm.
It should have been this morning,
said the weather men.

Mon Dec 10th

Clear, crisp, dry sunlight -
how uplifting even though
the wind is bitter.

Tues 11th Dec

Stopping to gossip
after chance meeting with friend
means a dark drive home.

Mon 17th Dec

Daughter's tooth abcess
meant 4 hundred mile trips
to help. Now I'm beat.

Wed 19th Dec

Bought final present;
wrote competition story:
feeling rather smug.

Thur 20th Dec

Busy people dash
hither and thither in town.
No time to be cold.

Sat 22nd Dec

Rosebuds remain tight
weeks after their first promise.
No blooms for Christmas?

Sun 23rd Dec

Here we go again.
Drive one hundred miles to see
grandaughter’s Xmas.

Mon 24th Dec

New friends to meet while
children sing Christmas carols.
What a lovely treat.

Tues 25th Dec

Santa’s treats replaced
by half wrapped new bicycle
before the fire grate.

Wed 26th Dec

Packed park sees children
On new bikes, skates or scooters.
Anxious parents help.

Thur 27th Dec

I’ve caught the cold that’s
been on offer everywhere.
Longing to be home.

Fri 28th Dec

Long drive homeward now.
What relief to slide between
my own bed linen.

Mon 31st dec

Never felt more ill
with just a cold. Hang on though,
I've said that before.
