I don’t often get paid in sterling these days. Mostly it’s US dollars. Recently Alevtina, who edits the European Journal, has been trying to pay me in euros. It’s turned into quite a saga.

I'm back, thanks mainly to Trevor (tbelshaw), but with lots of catching up to do. Meantime, do take a look at this amazing and hopefully inspirational story.

SOMETHING CREEPY has gotten into my system and is slowing everything down and won't even let me open my blogger blog. IT has turned off off my Windows Automatic Updates and won't let me turn it back on. My Kaspersky can't find IT, nor can Spybot or No Adware, although the latter programme is out of date and IT aborts every attempt to update it. So I'd better avoid the internet until I can get IT sorted. See you sometime.

Once every month or so, I cook up a healthy ratatouille and divide the leftovers into individual servings to freeze. Yesterday I decided to experiment with some extra ingredients that needed to be used up. It was so good I thought I’d share this tasty version of the healthy dish, cooked quickly and easily in a microwave.

I’m back at home again after some time in South West London, and taking a whole day to get home because on the way I went to take pix of the National Collection of Old English Roses. Just in time as the season for them is over but there were still plenty to see and I got some great pix that are currently still in the camera.

Walking from the car park to Tintinhull House Garden on Sunday we passed through an orchard with two trees overburdened with mistletoe. Here's are two pics.

I could not resist stopping to take pics of these giant branches/flowers of a weird looking plant growing out of a roadside hedge in Torquay. Can anyone tell me what it is?
