May I just have a moan? (With or without your permission I'm going to)
Members keep posting to Linkblog, which as the category implies is for links. Now it's fine while we're in the testing stage, but when the blogs go live and we have thousands of them here, the linkblog is going to be pointless.
Sue, Rob, I don't know how others feel, but it might be better if bloggers have the facility to set up their own links alongside or near to their profile. How do other testers feel about this?

I'm not fussed either way.
I think the problem with linkblog could be solved in a number of ways.
1) as you suggest
2) by more clear information so that people know what linkblog is for
3) by having linkblog but not allowing everyone to post to it ie links are submitted to a moderator/editor who would then put them up
Certainly, one difficulty at the moment may be that it is quite easy to start writing one's blog entry in the wrong section by mistake. One may not realise one's done it. Or if one does, one can't simply move the post into the right section. Instead one has to copy and paste into a new post in the correct section and then delete the original post in linkblog. This is obviously a little more complicated and time-consuming.

That last one is a valid point, Sarah, the backoffice defaults to whatever blog you were reading before you clicked the admin link, so if you happened to be reading Linkblog or help, then decided to write a post, you would be working in that blog. 'Twould be better if the backoffice defaulted to your own blog.
