Communication breakdown

Author: gillyflower (add to friends)

Along with heaven knows how many other people in the country I currently have no email access. At some point on Sunday, ISP Hotkey (or their server) experienced major power problems, and as at Tuesday evening, (ie today) these problems have still to be fixed.

[More:]

Frustration doesn't even begin to describe it. The helpline has been no help because it isn't operating. And when I last checked about an hour agao, neither was the website. The only available information is trickling out on a forum link that a Google search threw up, but there is still no real idea as to when things will be up and running again. Maybe later tonight, or maybe tomorrow. But even if it's tomorrow the backlog of emails is apparently so enormous it will take several hours to clear.

Quite apart from all the pulp mill-related emails that will be in the queue, I'm sweating on responses to a couple of email interviews, for a couple of vet articles. I can't write the things without this info, and the tyranny of the deadline is rapidly approaching. Although to be honest I'm not even sure if the emailed questions I sent will have been received.

My usual Tuesday evening routine of writing a pulp mill update for BGN, and contributing to the WE game has obviously gone by the board this week.

And while I shudder to think how many emails there will be to deal with when Hotkey are finally functioning once more, the bonus has been having some time to write a blog entry instead.

maybe you should change to a web-based email like Gmail. That way you can always check emails whenever you're online, from any computer, anywhere.

Hope your email is up & running again by now.

This sounds horrendous. When I first got my email, it went down a few times with teething problems, but I sson discovered how to check my inbox on the service's website. You can't even do that.

Hope it's sorted by now.
