International Dance Day

29 Apr 2009

The intention of the Day is to bring all Dance together on this occasion, to celebrate this art form and revel in its universality, to cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers and bring people together in peace and friendship with a common language - DANCE.

[More:]

The date of the Day commemorates the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727 - 1810), the creator of modern ballet. The main purpose of Dance Day events is to attract the attention of the wider public to the art of dance. Special emphasis is given to addressing a "new" public, people who do not follow dance events during the course of the year.
