On the 24th of February 1999 the report into the murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence labelled London's police force "institutionally racist" and condemned officers for "fundamental errors".

On the 26th February 1984 American forces withdrew almost all of their troops from the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
