Television cameras allowed into Lords

Twenty-five years ago on this day, the House of Lords voted in favour of allowing cameras to broadcast live discussions from its chamber. The motion by Lord Soames won an overwhelming majority with Peers voting 74 in favour and 24 against the motion.
The televising of the Lords put pressure on the House of Commons to follow suit.
