I want to bring to your notice that many wonderful writers from developing countries want to enter your competition. But the entry fee counts aginst them and thus writers from economically advanced countries are the ones that send many of the entries. The problem is made worse worse by online payment by credit cards that many contests such as yours request for.

Can you find sponsors for entries from developing countries (especially Africa) and and thereby assist, please?

Appreciate the problem Tunji. The issue we have is that Writelink relies on membership subscriptions and any profit from its competitions to run the site.

Our annual subscription is very low, £15 per year which at the moment offers 12 monthly contests which are free to enter, but will soon increase to 24. I realise that this is probably still prohibitive to many writers in developing countries and your idea of finding some sponsorship is a valid one which we will look at in the future.

Meanwhile, it is worth going through our Competition listings of external contests as not all require entry fees.

A word of warning though, please check any contest that does not charge a n entry fee very carefully! Many are run by book publishers looking to drum up business. The winners are often chosen at random and all entrants will be subject to sales tactics involving publishing deals.
