A Moving Moment: Farewell to Friends

A truly moving moment today. My circle dance people organised a party and asked me to invite my closest friends.

[More:]

It was interesting for me to realise that I have mixed in a whole lot of different circles in my four years here: teaching, expat, yoga, neighbours, and so on. Fifteen ladies came along, and they didn't all know each other, so there were a lot of lively exchanges. We danced, made speeches, and snacked, and it was all wonderful. And just yesterday my dance article came out on women's e-news - here is the link.
http://www.womensenews.org/article.cfm?aid=3645 . If ever you get the chance, try it: amazing how it makes people smile!

You've got some lovely memories, Paola - and great friends, too! They're making sure you're getting a great send-off!

A happy occasion! How wonderful that you had such a great group, it must have been specially interesting that you were such a varied bunch!

As a teenager, longer ago than I care to remember, we used to dance Highland reels - at a boy's boarding school, hardly what you would have called 'yoga' - but fun.

Sounds like you had a lovely time and that you have made some good friends. I found your women's article very interesting - pity we don't do things like that over here. The only time I experienced a dance from another culture was when my husband and I went to the Faroe Islands, whilst on our cruise. A tour guide took us round the Island and then we went to a cultural centre and she asked us to form a circle and showed us how to do their national dance, which was quite simple. I think it is the only time my husband has danced without objection.

I enjoyed your article on circle dancing, Paola, and the people in the pictures look happy and relaxed. I hope you'll have a chance to do some circle dancing at your next home.

Super article. I remembered some of it, but not the research you did about how it originated. Well done for cracking that market.

Lovely party, too.

Great article Paola, and the circle dancing is certainly an interesting concept I will pass on to a friend of mine who is sure to want to follow up.
Holiday, work & life in general have kept me out of the WriteLink loop for a few weeks but hope to catch up with a few blogs (including my own) this weekend.
