Moth Survey

This week we are being asked to count moths you see in your garden. Details can be found at http://www.mothcount.brc.ac.uk together with photos to help you identify what you see.

[More:]

I've never tried anything like this before and am already frustrated - they take some finding in daylight hours and it gets dark too late to attract them by leaving lights on.

I gather it's cruel to throw moth balls at them. Photography will be a challenge as it's only luck when I succeed with butterflies.

PS: I have now taken two photos of a moth on the kitchen window - see this blog on the old site for the pics. I hope I can identify it.

The tree in the picture is a reflection in the window.
