Green Watch

There is a lot to be said for carrying a notebook and pen when you are out. The same is true for a camera to capture an event.

[More:]

Down by the River Tees I came across Cleveland Fire and Rescue Service testing out their Simon Snorkel. Green Watch from Norton Fire Station were upstream from the new Infinity Bridge. Crew Manager Beattie and Firefighter Dawson were on the hose:

and soon the bridge was veiled in spray.

Apart from me they had an audience of 1.

The fire engine on the right was drawing water from the Tees and pumping it across to Snorkel unit.

When the practice was complete the Simon Snorkel tender was prepared to depart:

My thanks go to the crews for permitting me to photograph them at work.

If I hadn't had that camera with me I would have missed the opportunity.

Great shots here, Bob and the basis of a photofeature I imagine. The new bridge provides an interesting backdrop. Very sharp images. Almost wonder if a children's publication might be interested.

I usually use a digital SLR camera but this is buly for everyday trips. We are seriously thinking of adding a compact camera when we go anywhere as this would be more convenient and so useful. We have often missed oportunities through not having a camera to hand. Mark you, our daughter gets pretty good shots on her camera phone these days, too.

Big boys toys are always a good subject, and photo opportunity, aren't they? Luv'em. David M.

Brilliant picture, Bob. Saleable to right market, I would have said.

My grandson would've been in his element watching them - or, trying to take part - one of the two.

Super pictures.

They wouldn't let me play.

I googled Simon Snorkel and came up with what seemed like thousands of Corgi toys. Marilyn, you should buy some for your grandson.

Great pictures! I agree about having a camera at all times. On the rare occasions when I don't mine with me I know I'm bound to see something interesting.
