April Apparitions
Three more dates with ghosts.
April 4th:
Rochester Castle in Kent is the place for the appearance of the ghost of Lady Blanche de Warren on the fourth of April.
The Norman castle had been under siege by King John in 1215; during the siege undermining by King John’s men caused considerable damage to the south east tower.
The rebuilt castle was under siege again in 1264, this time from the armies of Gilbert de Clair and Simon de Monfort. This was the siege that led to the demise of Lady Blanche. One version says she was accidentally killed by an arrow fired by her lover at Easter.
In other versions the arrow fired at a knight defending the castle bounced off his armour and struck Lady de Warren in the chest. Her ghost, with the arrow in her chest, is said to haunt the castle battlements on the anniversary of her death
April 7th:
A bridge at Acle, Norfolk has been the scene of two gruesome deaths. Josiah Burge is said to have killed his wife; then her brother slit Burge’s throat in revenge on the bridge. A year later the brother supposedly had his throat cut by a spectral skeleton also on the bridge.
Each year a ghost and pools of fresh blood appear– the so-called Burge’s Pools of Blood.
April 9th:
The ghost of an elderly lady, thought to be from the 18th century, wearing a long skirt, shawl and boots has been seen a recently as 1992 at Orme House, Newport on the Isle of Wight.
Comments, Pingbacks:
One section dealt with ghosts that appear on the anniversary of their death or at the same time each year, allegedly. I have since found a paranormal website about reoccurring ghosts.
I now have other ghostly ideas on which to work. I'm waiting to see where it leads me.
Many of the pictures are easily explained, but some are not.
