A Christmas Bird

This Christmas bird is for Linda (see her earlier blog)

[More:]

This is a North American or Canadian Northern Hawk Owl. Its markings on the back are the nearest match to Linda's photo.

Linda- it's worth getting your bird identified by an expert as there might be money available for your picture if the bird has found its way here from across the Atlantic.

Where did mine come from? I've cheated and photographed a page from a bird book I was given some time ago.

Happy Christmas everyone. Enjoy your Christmas bird.

Linda's bird doesn't look to have an owls head though Bob, least not to my inexperienced eyes.

Thanks, Bob!
I've been looking out for my mystery bird but haven't seen it again. I suspect it was just 'passing through'.
I was going to contact some local wildlife groups but what with Christmas and everything I haven't had time yet.
But I will, and will let you know reults.
Merry Christmas!
Linda
