WHAT IS THE WRITELINK SUPER CHALLENGE?

Each month we'll be setting a new contest for a short story, poem or non-fiction article similar to that which takes place in the current Arena.

[More:]

The difference is that only standard Super Writer members will be able to enter! Super Writers will be equivalent to current Spotlighted Writers.

Non-Spotlighted Writers will have their own contest. (See Writelink Challenge).

Very interesting: how do you get to be a Super writer? And when will these contests be launched?

Super writers will be manually upgraded from Writer level. On the main site when a Writer gets spotlighted they upgrade to that level automatically. This is O.K. in theory, but in practice doesn't work very well as members tend to be very generous with the star rating system that triggers Spotlight status.

When the blog site takes over from the existing site, Writers will have to have won the Writelink Challenge, (that's for Writer level, have won an open competition elsewhere, or been published in main stream magazines or small press. (Proof will be required).

The idea is that the better writers will compete against each other and level things up for emerging writers.

Super Writers will not be allowed to enter the Challenge only the Super Challenge, although they will be allowed to judge both.

These contests will launch when the blog site takes over from the existing site. I've had to set them up as our programmer needs them to be in existence so that he can incorporate them in the new site template that is being designed.

It depends! Those that I'm aware of have had their accounts created on the new site so that they are able to enter the Super Challenge. Obviously I don't know all of the Spotlighted Writers so when we are ready to go live I will send out an email asking everyone to check their status and let me know if they are in the wrong competition!

We'll start the Challenge and Super Challenge when we move completely over to the new site.

Can't do that until the new Arena voting system is working properly as this will also form the basis for voting on the Challenges.

Our programmer is working on this now so it shouldn't be too long.

Another question from me still finding my way.
I know where arena is although find it very difficult to read in the little boxes - have to keep making my screen bigger to read and smaller to navigate. But I persevere on and off. Would comment much more often if I could see it better.

But the other thing is -- where oh where does one read poems and stoies etc published by writelink on site not in arena? I keep looking for articles poems etc and thought I'd found it when I just clicked poetry above arena but no, just some info. I know superwriters are still in the offing but whre is the work of the previous rated / starred writers?
Sorry if I'm being a pain. One day I'll know how to use this site.

Daffni if you are having problems with reading and commenting on the old site you can use the Arena on this site, (the new blog site).

People are posting to the the blog Arena and would certainly appreciate comments.

Make sure that you are on the orange site then look for the Arena link in the drop down menu under My Writing Desk at the top of the site.

As for the stories and poems published by Writelink. I think you mean those on the Resource section of the site. Go to the old green site, www.writelink.co.uk look down the left hand column and you should see Fiction, Poetry Click either of these and you will see all the stories and poems that we have published during the past couple of years, including your own!

How do you get spotlighted to beoome upgraded? Does Writelink do this according to your entries to their competitions, or if have already been published over the years does it happen automatically?

Slyvie, things are a little complicated at the moment as we are running two sites!

On this site, the orange blog site Spotlight Writers will be replaced by Super Writers and Writers.

If you get 3 Publishable votes in the orange blog Arena you can ask to be put in the Super Writer category.

You can also request this if you have had work published on other paying sites or magazines or been placed in open writing contests.

The third way of achieving Super Writer status is to win one of Writelink's contests.

We are not quite ready to launch this system yet so most members who are using this site will be in the ordinary Writer group.

However, when we are ready to launch, we will adjust this.

On our old site, (the green one found here: www.writelink.co.uk) the process is automatic. You need to score 40 or more stars through the Arena rating system.
