PITS & CRYPTS – Latest Arena Poetry contest
Two hundred years ago this January, Edgar Allan Poe, maestro of the macabre, was born to a couple of impoverished actors. In spite of this inauspicious start or perhaps because of it, he went on to write a whole raft of chilling horror stories and poems which still hold the power to terrify readers and inspire erstwhile horror writers.
To celebrate his penchant for unholy terror, our Arena contest this month calls for a 12 line horror poem either set in a crypt or featuring the denizens of the underworld!
As well as the usual cash prize of £20 for the best entry, we have a copy of David Robinson’s newly published novel, The Haunting of Membery Manor, http://www.amazon.com/Haunting-Memberly-Manor-David-Robinson/dp/0980150663 for the runner up.
Remember, if you are a Writer member, you can enter as many times as you like, but entries must be posted directly to the website.
Entries close: 10th February.
