Spring is just around the corner, well perhaps it’s still a few bends away, but to help it along our annual Spring Fever poetry competition has been revamped and will definitely cheer you up during these last dismal days of winter!

THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGING!
But are they changing for the better? If you think not here’s you chance to sing out in protest! Our latest open competition is a first for us as we’re dipping our toes into the song writing waters! Doing Dylan picks up the torch of lyrical dissent first raised by the young Pied Piper of Pop of the sixties!

LIT TRIPS – Latest Arena Contest
Our latest Arena competition is a great opportunity for arm chair travellers! We’re looking for literary journeys of up to 300 words. Your journey can be anything from a Shakespearean walk around Stratford to a leisurely drift down the Mississippi in the wake of Tom and Huck!

PITS & CRYPTS – Latest Arena Poetry contest
Two hundred years ago this January, Edgar Allan Poe, maestro of the macabre, was born to a couple of impoverished actors. In spite of this inauspicious start or perhaps because of it, he went on to write a whole raft of chilling horror stories and poems which still hold the power to terrify readers and inspire erstwhile horror writers.
To celebrate his penchant for unholy terror, our Arena contest this month calls for a 12 line horror poem either set in a crypt or featuring the denizens of the underworld!

SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT – PIPPIN WINS YULE SING ME ONE SONG
Our annual festive song writing contest produced a fine crop of entries which caused our judge, musician and song writer, Julie Holland a lot of head scratching as the quality was so high.

HO! HO! HO! HAVE YOU A TINSEL TALE TO SHOW?
This is a flash fiction competition with a difference! Post a 250 word Christmas themed story direct to the contest web page and watch it gain votes and comments from your friends, family and other writers.
SHAPE SHIFTERS!
If the pounds are piling on during the festivities here’s your chance to turn them to a positive use! Our latest Arena competition calls for a flash fiction story featuring someone who reaps unexpected consequences through attempting to lose weight!

THROUGH THE WINDOW – Latest Arena Competition
We’ve all got them so no excuse for lack of source material, but what do you or your protagonist see through yours? A homeless person looking longingly INTO a dining room window? Perhaps a bedridden old lady looking OUT onto her beloved, but now neglected garden? Or maybe your window is a metaphysical or allegorical window presenting life changing views of other dimensions?

ANGELS AND DEMONS - New Arena Poetry Competition
Don’t let Dan Brown’s book influence your ideas when it comes to our latest Arena competition! With Hallow’een just around the corner, we’re looking for hair-raising poems featuring either Angels and or those other chappies!
