MAKING PROGRESS

Here's the latest news from the disaster zone! As you know our web host pulled the plug on the servers hosting Writelink with very little warning.

[More:]

We did have up to date backups, but it turned out that the database was corrupted making the switch to a new host very difficult.

Fortunately the site files were fine and our programmer is now trying to restore the data from the corrupted database manually. Obviously this is taking a lot longer than what it would have done had there been no corruption and we still don't know how much he will be able to extract.

Although the site down message is still being displayed, I have a special link to see his progress so far and it looks as if he has been able to restore all of the forums.

The Xmas Chillers & Battle of the Bards sites are now back up so you can enter and vote in these as before.

I'll be sending out a newsletter to the whole membership later today which will also be available on-line here:
http://www.writelink.co.uk/nl

Fingers crossed we'll be back up to speed by the weekend! :)

Technology is wonderful when it works, and hell when it doesn't, but it's just not worth losing sleep over. All you can ask yourself is "Will this matter a month/year from now?" And of course, it won't. Good luck with getting it sorted and meanwhile, relax and enjoy your holiday.
Best wishes
Kate

You're quite right Kate and it's good to hear someone put it into words! Things are just about back to normal now so I'm going away with a much lighter heart!
