The way some folk carry on!

Well, I would never have believed it! There was me thinking it was our Belinda come to tell me more about the body and who should it be at the door but Jenny Walters. She wanted to know if I'd seen her husband as he hadn't come home last night.

[More:]

I just didn't know what to say. She'd got three of their nippers in tow as well. I don't know why she was asking me, as if I'd let Harold Walters anywhere near this place! Anyway, I suggested she talk to the police. I could hardly say talk to Brenda Simpson, could I? I mean, the way some folk carry on. It's disgusting. I can't get rid of that image of him with his hands on her....Is that the door again? Maybe it's Belinda this time. It's two days since the body was found, she must know something by now.

That was our Belinda. She'd been talking to Mrs Grover at the newsagents, who said the police had been in yesterday. She reckons the body's that nice Mr Williams from round the corner. They're saying it's suicide! Now what would he want to go and do that for? I never would have thought it! His wife Alison must be distraught. She's a funny one, she is. Ever so quiet and mousey, but they say he met her at some dancing club. She's expecting their first baby too. Charles, that's Mr Williams, was ever so delighted when she told him. What on earth can have happened to make him take his own life?
