ABOUT WRITELINK ARENA COMPETITIONS
What are Arena Competitions? Writelink Arena competitons are monthly writing contests covering a variety of subjects and genres.
They may be for poetry, short fiction, letter writing or literary articles. The one thing they have in common is that they are generally short and use the unique, Writelink reviewing system.
What is the Writelink Reviewing System? All entries to Arena contests are posted direct to the Writelink website and are open to reviews by other members who are also able to award a star rating.
Judging however, is done by an independent adjudicator who posts a full report on the site.
Are there any prizes? Yes, £20 cash is awarded to the best entry each month.
How much is the entry fee? There is no charge to enter Arena competitions and no limit on how many entries you can submit. However, you must be a Writer member of the site to enter.
How much is it to join the site? The membership fee is £15 per year. We usually have a special promotion running which makes this a very attractive offer. Our latest subscribers offer is a copy of Poetry For Profit, an ebook containing a database of nearly 100 markets that pay for poetry.
What else do I get for my subs? As well as the monthly Arena contests, we have a very active Forums, extensive writing resources, a free market place and of course you are entitled to submit work to other Arena sections.
What other Arena Sections? Fiction, poetry, Book Chapters and Articles. You can submit work in progress or completed work for other members to review and rate. If you are good enough you may become a Spotlighted Writer.
What is a Spotlighted Writer? To become a Spotlighted Writer you need to earn a 40 star rating from one piece of work submitted to the Arena categories. Once this is achieved your status on the site upgrades and you will be allowed to submit work to the Resource area of the site.
Any work accepted receives payment at the rate of £20 per accepted piece.
Currently we publish and pay for one short story, one poem each month and 3 writing articles every 1-3 months.
